CHARITY SUPPORT WORK
I am an active member of the Harmony Therapy Trust and have been working with the charity to provide reflexology to patients suffering with life changing illnesses. Working with the trust allows me to provide free therapy when people need it most. In doing so, this supports the patient with a sense of uplifting spirits and emotional well-being.
The charity was founded by Dawn Cockburn in 2010, inspired by The Sara Lee Trust which provided reflexology to her sister during her cancer journey. Dawn has worked to build and coordinate a multitude of therapies and services available for patients with poor health, including cancer.
The trust’s principle belief is that touch is the oldest form of therapy and when you are ill the caring touch of a therapist, or even someone to offer a listening ear, gives a sense of being nurtured. More importantly, these therapies are non-invasive and can support medical treatment by relaxing the patient, uplifting the spirit and improving nerve and blood supply to the body.
All therapists that work with the charity must be professionally qualified and members of the recognised professional body.
Patients must be referred by their health care provider: GP, Nurse, Oncologist or Specialist
